Looking for Alesia Filimonova: Mogilev – Toruń, 1992
In 1992 a girl from a children's home in Mogilev spent the summer and the Christmas holidays with a Polish family in Toruń. More than thirty years later, that family would like to know how she is.
Iwona from Toruń, Poland, is looking for Alesia Filimonova. Today Alesia should be about 40 years old. In 1992 she lived in a children's home in Mogilev.
What Iwona remembers
That year the city of Toruń organised holidays for children from Belarus in Polish families. Alesia, then a little girl, spent several weeks of the summer with Iwona's family and returned to Mogilev with the other children.
In December 1992 Iwona, then a young woman, travelled with another Polish family to the children's home in Mogilev to bring a group of children to Poland for Christmas. Alesia again spent several weeks with her family and then went back to Belarus.
Since then the two families have had no contact. Iwona writes that she would simply like to find Alesia and ask how she is doing.
